Whether you’re trying to lose weight or maintain weight, protein is the most important piece of the puzzle. Protein is a component in every single cell in the entire body. It is the most important building block, from hormones to blood, to muscles, to bones. Unlike carbohydrates and fats, your body does not store protein, so it has no reservoir. Eating a diet high in protein will change your body’s metabolism from fat storage to fat burning.
There are many health benefits to eating protein and they include: maintaining weight, builds muscle mass, regulates blood sugar, increases energy and improves mood and brain function. If you don’t eat enough protein your body becomes weaker at fighting infections, metabolism slows down, mood swings, and cravings for sugar and junk food increase. Everyone knows, when you get hungry, most people go for the not so healthy snack.
When choosing your protein of choice, it is imperative to get the best quality you can afford. There are so many things happening with our food sources, that we recommend grass fed, pasture raised, organic, and free-range food items. The less it’s processed the better off for your body.
My recommendation is to have a protein shake for breakfast to start your day and start gaining the benefits of protein! It’s quick and simple and starts the day off right!
